OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Paul W. Sorensen
Paul is a cultivator of vision and leadership for collective mission with Christ. A native of Florida, Paul has lived in Chattanooga, Chicago and greater New York City. Originally trained as an investment banker, Paul has helped launch, lead and serve several faith-based charities and churches across North America. This work includes the recent establishment of The Mission Collective, a boutique nonprofit organization designed to plant citycentric hubs of mission and churches, beginning with The Holy City Collective and The Daniel Island Fellowship. He holds a B.A. in Business and Economics from Wheaton College and a M.Div. and M.A. in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Married for 19 years to Karly, they have two sons and a daughter, Kaden, Blaise and Saylor Grace. Paul is incredibly thankful to call Daniel Island his home, and he is committed to making The Daniel Island Fellowship an amazing and lasting community for Christ and His Kingdom.
Jim and Cathy Amendolia
Pastoral Team For Care and Prayer
Jim and Cathy are wise and warm servant-leaders to individuals and families with Christ. Natives of Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, they have lived and served throughout the United States. A retired Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps and former V.P. in the commercial management sector, Jim holds a B.G.S. in History from George Washington University, a M.A. in Military Art and Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, a M.B.A. from Webster University, a M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from Phoenix Seminary. A faithful friend and partner in ministry with Jim, Cathy holds a M.A. in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Together they have served in the inner-city to the suburbs, with the young and to the old. High school sweethearts, they have been married for over 50 years and have three grown children, a son and two daughters. Jim and Cathy are graciously serving The Daniel Island Fellowship in a voluntary leadership capacity and delighted to help raise up future generations of servant-leaders in Christ.
Jerry and Lana McSwain
Pastoral Team for Community Groups
Jerry and Lana’s vision is to awaken God’s people, equipping and unleashing God’s mission in the lives of everyday leaders through intentional discipleship. They are pioneers in missional discipleship and for the past 6 years have spent much of their time mentoring high capacity leaders across the US. Jerry’s childhood in North Carolina led him to North Carolina State University where he completed a Masters degree in the School of Forestry. He spent 20 years as a project manager with the federal government developing multiple federal, natural resource assets across the US. In 1999, he joined the staff of a large church in Charleston where he oversaw several ministries and significant growth for 14 years. Lana completed her education at Meredith College and after getting their two children settled in public schools, she resumed her career in public education, retiring in 2010. For the past 6 years, she has joined Jerry in their leadership initiatives working with high capacity leaders across multiple denominations. They have been married for 46 years and have two children and five well above average grandchildren.
DirectoR of DIF Kids and Volunteer Coordinator
Mollie is an enthusiastic encourager and disciple maker, passionate to see the church come alive on mission with Christ. A native of Northeast Ohio, Mollie has enjoyed varied experience in leadership and children’s education since a young age through camps, conferences, and teaching opportunities. A graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a B.A. in World Missions (Evangelism & Discipleship), Mollie has lived in Charleston since 2013. In addition to her position with The Daniel Island Fellowship, Mollie currently teaches History at Lowcountry Christian Community School (LCCS), cultivating her love for legacy, missions, and the ancient future. Mollie is honored to serve as the Director of Children’s Ministries at The Daniel Island Fellowship to help grow kids and families in their love of God and His Word.
Director of DIF Students and Connections Coordinator
Cody is passionate about building lasting relationships with students and connecting them to Jesus. A native of Eastern North Carolina, Cody has served in many church volunteer roles as well as the Christian Life Director at a local Christian academy. Cody graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Religion and is ordained through the Acts 2 Network. Cody is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Christian Ministries: Pastoral Counseling, and he recently became a newlywed to his beautiful bride, Kelsey. Cody is excited to join the Daniel Island Fellowship team and begin cultivating a heart for Jesus within our students.
DIRECTOR OF WorshiP and Communications Coordinator
Trenton is a storyteller; his greatest passion is retelling God’s story week after week through corporate worship. He was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and lived in Asheville for several years before moving to Charleston in 2016. Prior to joining the team at the Daniel Island Fellowship, Trenton served in a variety of worship leadership capacities in both Charlotte and Asheville. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Worship Arts from Montreat College and aspires to pursue seminary education in the future. Trenton and his wife, Brooke, love Daniel Island Fellowship and find great joy in serving each week.
Assistant DIRECTOR OF DIF Kids
Ashley is a detail-oriented planner who is passionate about sharing the power of an authentic relationship with Jesus to the next generation. A native of South Carolina, Ashley grew up in Seacoast Church and had the privilege of working in their children's ministry in the planning, executing, and facilitating of the elementary weekend experience. Ashley received an Associate’s Degree in Christian Ministry from Highlands College in 2014, where she gained hands-on training in Church of the Highlands, one of the fastest growing churches in North America. Ashley is excited to be a part of The Daniel Island Fellowship to help raise up the next generation of Christian leaders.
